Typing Format
When
submitting typed papers, use this format unless otherwise advised. Correctly done, your paper will look
something like this. Do make sure that only the title is on "center"
alignment, and your body paragraphs are aligned "left."
Your
paper should include a heading as shown above (don't forget the word
count!). Give your paper a strong
title, and center it above the text on the first page. Always double-space the body of the
paper. Also, use a simple font for
the body in 10-pt. or 12-pt. size: no italics, shadowing, or handwriting fonts. Remember: keep
the FONT PLAIN and the WRITING EXCITING. The only place you might try a fancy
font is the title--but be sure it's easily readable.
Leave
ample margins (about one inch) around all sides of the paper. If you have multiple pages, number and
staple them together in the upper left hand corner. CLOSELY examine your work before submitting: this means re-reading to inspect for
errors of all kinds. If requested,
attach rough draft/s to the back of the final paper.
With
most compositions, it is helpful to have a title that is unique to your
personal topic. This should be
centered above your first paragraph of text. Do include the assignment name (what the teacher calls the
assignment Ð it will be the same for everyone) in the heading.
In manuscripts,
as in your personal appearance, remember: put your best foot forward. First impressions do matter.
